Genesis 40 Series, Part 20, Verses 10-12

Hello, and welcome to EBible Fellowship’s Bible study in the book of Genesis. Tonight is study #20 in Genesis 40, and we will read Genesis 40:10-12:

And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes: And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand. And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days:

We have been looking at “three days” in the Bible during our last couple of studies. We were discussing Hosea 6, and we will get back to where God said there: “… After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up.” We saw how that fit with Exodus 19:11: “And be ready against the third day: for the third day JEHOVAH will come down…” We also saw how it fits with Luke 13:32:

Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.

I explained how we can understand this. The word “today” identifies with the first outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and “tomorrow” identifies with the second outpouring of the Holy Spirit. That is when Christ did cures and cast out devils, which is language that identifies with salvation. H did cures today and tomorrow, and the third day He is perfected, and the “third day” identifies with Judgment Day.

It is the same thing in Hosea 6:1:

Come, and let us return unto JEHOVAH: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

To be healed, or to be bound up, is language of salvation. Then it says in Hosea 6:2:

After two days will he revive us…

We are going to look at the word “revive” more carefully in this study. Then it says in Hoses 6:2:

… in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

We looked at Exodus 19 which mentioned three days. It says in Exodus 19:10:

And JEHOVAH said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,

Remember we looked at the great multitude in Revelation 7, and they had washed their clothes in the blood of the Lamb. To sanctify them today and tomorrow, and to wash their clothes, is to make their clothing the fine white linen, the righteousness of saints that is imputed to the elect in salvation. That is how one spiritually washes their clothes.

So God is being consistent here when He says to wash their clothes today and tomorrow, and in Luke 13 Christ said He did cures today and tomorrow, and in Hosea 6 it said that after two days He will revive us. Again, we will look more at “revive” and how it fits with salvation and the completion of God’s salvation program.

Then it goes on to say in Exodus 19:11:

And be ready against the third day: for the third day JEHOVAH will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.

Then the trumpet sounds long, and that word is “jubile.” Then it says in Exodus 19:13:

There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.

So when the jubile sounds long, they shall come up to the mount. JEHOVAH comes down the third day. When the jubile sounds long, they will come up. No other day is mentioned, so we can gather that when JEHOVAH comes down, which is when judgment happens, it happens during the time period that the elect shall come up in the rapture and resurrection. Given the language of John 2, we can gather that this would be on “the third day.” It says in John 2:19:

Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

It is “the third day.”

I would like to make one correction to what I have been saying about “today and tomorrow,” and the only way to understand that because of what it says in Matthew 6:30:

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

That goes along with what we read in Luke 12:28:

If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Previously, I thought “today” was the day of salvation, and “tomorrow” was Judgment Day because of what it says in these two verses, as the “oven” is judgment, as we read in Malachi 4:1:

For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith JEHOVAH of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

I thought that must be the explanation for “today and tomorrow,” but then we have to consider Luke 13 and other verses like Exodus 19 where it says to wash their clothes today and tomorrow, and to be ready against the third day when JEHOVAH comes down upon mount Sinai. So what is the third day? As I mentioned earlier, we had a caller to the Open Forum a couple of months ago, and he made some suggestions that got me thinking. So I thought that “today” must not be the entire “day of salvation,” but must be referring to the first outpouring of the Holy Spiri; and “tomorrow” must be the second outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and “tomorrow” is the oven because during the second outpouring of the Holy Spirit during the last part of the Great Tribulation period God was judging the churches.

If you remember, a couple studies ago we saw that the same word translated as “oven” in the Old Testament spoke of Jerusalem being cast into a “furnace,” the same Hebrew word as “oven.” It was the judgment that would come on the churches. It says in Isaiah 31:9:

And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith JEHOVAH, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.

There was fire in Zion, and an oven in Jerusalem, and God is a consuming fire as He brings His wrath.

And that is the explanation for “today,” “tomorrow,” and “the third day.” It is the first outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the second outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and Judgment Day. Whenever three days are in view, that is the explanation. Sanctify yourselves today and tomorrow; wash your clothes today and tomorrow; and be ready against the third day, Judgment Day, when JEHOVAH comes down as the jubile sounds long.

By the way, in case you are wondering what the reference to jubile means, just consider that 1994 was a jubile year, and 7 B. C. when Christ was born was a jubile year. And the first outpouring of the Holy Spirit in 33 A. D. was connected to the fact that Jesus had entered into the world, born of a virgin, in the jubile year of 7 B. C. He was the very essence of the jubile because the jubile has to do with deliverance (salvation). On that first day of Pentecost in 33 A. D., 3,000 were saved. It was the initial sounding of deliverance as the Gospel would go forth as churches became established in almost every nation. All of that was tied to the jubile of 7 B. C.

Likewise, 1994 was a jubile year, and God did complete His salvation program by saving the great multitude outside of the churches during the second part of the Great Tribulation period beginning in 1994 to May 21, 2011. And certainly that was connected to the jubile, but the elect “go up” to the kingdom of God. The elect are raptured and resurrected, and they are raised up on “the third day” when the jubile sounds long because it is tied to this last jubile period. There will not be another. This was the last jubile, and the 40th jubile since 7 B. C.

There was another jubile year in 457 B. C. That was the jubile that Mr. Camping discussed in his solution to Daniel 9 and the seventy “sevens.” Remember the Bible spoke of 62 weeks, and then seven weeks, or seven “sevens,” which he realized was the number of years in between jubile periods because a jubile comes every 50th year. God even counts it out in Leviticus 25:8:

And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.

So from the jubile of 457 B. C. to the jubile year of 1994 A. D. totals 2,450 years. If we break that number down, it is “49 x50.” It is basically the “jubile of jubiles.” The year 1994 is the last jubile, and then there should come a 50th, but that will take place for eternity. So the jubile of 1994 sounded long. And keep in mind that when Josha and the Israelites went around Jericho, they blew the ram’s horn. That was the word “jubile.” And after 13 times around the city, the walls of Jericho fell down, and they delivered Rahab and her family. So it was a picture of God’s final judgment that would come after 13,000 years of earth’s history The use of the word “jubile” in that context is like the jubile sounding long at the time of the end. Then there was a shout and the walls came falling down, and that ties in with Christ coming with a shout and great sound of a trumpet, in 1Thessalonians 4:16. It is all interconnected.

Also, with the language of Exodus 19 regarding the “third day” when the jubile sounds long because Judgment Day is in the midst of this jubile period which began on May 21, 2011. It ended salvation. It ended deliverance for sinners because all the elect that were to be delivered had been delivered. You cannot have any more salvation than to save all those whose names had been written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. It was the utmost in salvation. It was a day of celebration because God was faithful to His promise to save everyone He intended to save. Christ said, “Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.” All the lost sheep of the house of Israel have been found, and that was the completion of the deliverance of souls, which is the first resurrection.

But by that language in Revelation 20 regarding the “first resurrection,” there is a definite implication of a second resurrection, which is the deliverance of the bodies of the elect, and that is the ultimate deliverance of the saints, all of God’s elect children. According to biblical evidence, we are looking to sometime in the year 2033 for that to take place before the coming of the next jubile. On the New Testament side of the calendar, every century has two jubiles, like 1944 and then 1994. The next jubile would be in 2044, but I do not see any way that can happen. All the biblical evidence ties into 2033 for the end, and just like we could say it did for that mythical man Nathaniel regarding Christ’s first coming. In Mr. Camping’s book “1994?” He showed how this fictional child of God who just looked only at the scriptures of the Old Testament could have had understanding of when would be the first coming of Christ. There were numerous time paths to 33 A. D., and it would have been correct, would it not? We know that 33 A. D. was correct. You know, there were a few things in examining all the date evidence that this mythical Nathaniel could have discerned where he looked at another year here and there, but the abundance of evidence centered on 33 A. D. and 34 A. D. And those issues were solved with subtracting “1” because there is no year “0.” So when that was factored in, that doubled the number of time paths falling on 33 A. D.

Likewise, we have strong biblical evidence pointing to 2033, which follows the pattern perfectly of Christ’s first coming. ( I do not want to get too much into that here.) Yes, you can find a time path that lands elsewhere here and there, but there is nothing in comparison to the year 2033, and it strongly indicates 2033. So if the biblical evidence proves correct, the day of resurrection and rapture does come in 2033, then all the elect will “go up,” and that is ultimate salvation. That is deliverance from this “body of death.” Remember what the Apostle Paul said about this because we must keep in mind that the jubile is all about deliverance. We read in Romans 7:24:

O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

This idea is picked up in Romans 8:21:

Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

Again, we think of our Liberty Bell that quotes from Leviticus 25:9-10:

Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.

The meek shall inherit the earth,” and we will enter into our eternal habitation, the new heaven and new earth, and we will have eternal life. And even the “creation” will be delivered because the last day will be the ultimate deliverance, the ultimate jubile, and it goes on to say in Romans 8:22-23:

For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

We will have redemption from our sin-cursed bodies that are not yet saved. There is corruption, and there would be death, depending on the length of time left in the Lord’s will for each one of us. But on the “third day” the trumpet sounds long because from 1994 to 2033 is 40 inclusive years. And there is precedence because from the jubile year of 7 B. C. until 33 A. D. and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit the first time was 40 calendar years. So I think we can understand why Exodus 19 makes the statement that when the jubile sounds long, we will go up.
