Let us turn to Jonah, chapter 3. This is study #2 of Jonah, chapter 3 and I am going to read Jonah 3:1-4:
And the word of JEHOVAH came unto Jonah the second time, saying, Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of JEHOVAH. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey. And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.
I will stop reading there. As we are looking at the Book of Jonah, we have spent some time in Jonah during our Day in the Word during the last few months. And what I am reminded of, again, and again, is the year 1994, because of what God said in verse 1: “And the word of JEHOVAH came unto Jonah the second time.” We know that Jonah is a picture of the Holy Spirit, as we have discussed before, and we will get in to that later.
Jonah had already been commanded once to go to Nineveh, in chapter 1, and that was a picture of the first outpouring of the Holy Spirit. And when did God begin to first pour out His Holy Spirit? When can we first tie the outpouring of the Holy Spirit back to a specific date? It would be 7BC, because Christ came, born in a Jubilee Year, and He is the very essence of deliverance. It was not until 33AD that the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Day of Pentecost, but it is all connected to Christ’s first coming in 7BC.
The same is true of 1994, a Jubilee Year. It was the time when God was stretching forth His hand the second time to recover the remnant of His people. We will also look at some scripture that shows that God has two outpourings of the Holy Spirit. There are not three – there are only two. There are two gatherings of people, the firstfruits and the ingathering that came at the time of the end; there were those saved during the church age and those saved during the little season of the Great Tribulation. How many fishing expeditions do we read about in the Bible in which a “net” is emphasized? The first time, what happened to the net? The net broke. The second time they caught a great multitude of fish (just as they did the first time), but the net did not break. So, there was difference between these two expeditions, which we can identify with the “early rain” and the Latter Rain or the salvation of souls during the church age and the salvation of souls outside of the churches during that (about) seventeen-year period from 1994 to 2011. So, when we see Jonah coming to Nineveh the second time, it points to the year 1994.
You know, I cannot remember some things that happened last week or a couple of weeks ago – my memory is really getting bad. But I can remember very well September 1992. I was a casual listener to Family Radio. To tell you the truth, I was a “casual Christian.” I cannot forget that year because I got married in August, but just before that I graduated from seminary in May or June of 1992. I went to seminary not to be a pastor but to be a Christian counselor because I was working at DRC (Diagnostic Rehabilitation Center) in Philadelphia as a counselor for dually diagnosed clients. It got to the point when I was talking to them about “AA” and their 12-step program, I would keep saying, “We have to get to the root of the problem,” but I was learning that the root of most problems is “sin,” but that is forbidden to say. You cannot tell people that they are sinners and they have a particular sin weakness for drugs or alcohol, so I started thinking about being a Christian counselor. God arranged things and I went to seminary and graduated after three years in June 1992 and then got married in August 1992.
Then in September 1992 I was sitting alone in our little apartment that Maria had and she was working at that time, but I was not. And I was listening to Family Radio and I heard Mr. Camping announce September 1994 for the (possible) end of the world. I sat down, stunned. I was stunned – I mean it really hit me like nothing had hit me before because when I say I was a “casual Christian” I mean it. I would listen to Mr. Camping and here about Sunday the Sabbath, for example, and I would agree, but after church I would go down to the local deli at the end of the block. It did not register with me (about the Sabbath). Or, I would listen to Mr. Camping about election and I would agree, but then I would go to the church I was involved with and sign up for the “evangelization explosion,” which was a free will presentation of the Gospel. You see, things just did not “agree” and I did not have a very good understanding, but at that point in September 1992 I stopped being a casual Christian when I heard Mr. Camping say that and I sat down, really stunned. I was listening to every word and from that point until now, it has not really changed. Something grabbed a-hold of me and kept dragging me along and pulling me in a direction and it had to do with that first announcement back in September 1992 about the year 1994.
But 1994 did not happen like we had thought. And why did we think 1994 might be the end of the world? It was because 2,300 evening mornings from May 21, 1988 takes us to September 7, 1994, which was the beginning of a Jubilee Year and I think it was the first day of the seventh Hebrew month in which the trumpet of the jubile is to sound. A Jubilee Year is a very good candidate for Christ’s coming because the jubile has to do with deliverance. And there is no greater deliverance than Christ coming and setting His people free from bondage to our bodies and for us to receive new resurrected bodies to go with our souls.
So, there was that emphasis on September 1994, but then it did not happen. But by God’s grace in 1994 I went on a tract trip to India because I had “heard” something and it did not cease. You know how some people react and it was the same way back in 1994 as it was in 2011 when nothing happened. Then, for a lot of these people, you would not see them any longer. There were Bible studies prior to 1994 in someone’s small home and the house would be jammed full of dozens and dozens of people and then they went away. It was the same thing leading up to May 2011. I am sure many of you here remember our fellowship and the numbers of people that would come, but now where did they all go?
You see, there is a difference between the elect child of God who hears the voice of Christ and someone that just responded because it was a fascinating topic. “What if it does happen? I better make sure.” Then when it does not happen, the response is, “Well, let us go back to what we normally do.” A lot of people did that.
Let us go to John, chapter 10 and I will read John 10:1-5:
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
The Greek word for “voice” is “fo-nay.” God says that the sheep hear His voice. Then He says they know His voice. Then He says they know not the voice of strangers. When I look back over these last couple of decades. it has been 25 years since 1992. It has been 25 years of marriage for me, so I better not forget. But when I look back, I see this consistency in my life, even though I was a very inconsistent person previously. But there has been an ongoing following of the Word of God since that time and all I can say is that it has to do with hearing Christ’s voice and knowing that voice, because Christ gives that ability to His sheep. He gives us the ability to discern His voice.
Of course, because things do not happen like we thought in 1994 or like we thought in 2011, some might say, “Well, how can you say you heard the voice of Christ?” First, it did happen. The overwhelmingly important thing about May 21, 2011 was that it was Judgment Day and that did come to pass and the door did shut and God did end His salvation program. Yes, there were things that we have had to correct and learn as we go on, but we could look at the disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. How many times did Jesus tell them that He was going to die and rise after three days? How many of them understood it? He told them plainly, but they did not get it because it was not the time for them to understand. Afterwards, He came to them and opened up their understanding and then they understood. “Oh, yeah, He told us that.” In other words, they understood the scriptures at the point that God wanted them to understand the scriptures. So, yes, we can go through an event and not understand all the characteristics of the event until afterwards. That is how God often works with His people, even going back to Christ’s crucifixion.
Let us also go to John 18:37:
Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
It is everyone. No exception. This is given as part of salvation to the one that God saves. He grants them ears to hear and the ability to discern truth. That is why so many of God’s elect were drawn to the Open Forum. They heard Mr. Camping teaching. And how was he teaching? He was teaching by comparing scripture with scripture, being extremely careful to be faithful to what the Bible had to say and making sure his conclusions harmonized with the Word of God. That is what the Bible calls for in teaching faithfully and the elect of God are able to see that. It does not mean that every conclusion is perfect and there is never a need for correction.
We have been corrected about the nature of *“hell” and we have been corrected about when Christ made payment for sin (at the foundation of the world) and many other things. But the important thing is that the elect have the ability to hear that a teaching is coming forth from the Bible, because when we compare spiritual with spiritual the Holy Ghost teaches. Everyone who is of Christ, who is the Truth, heareth His voice.
It also works the other way regarding those that are not His elect. It says in John 8:43-47:
Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
Sadly, this is true of all unsaved people in this time after the church age is over and after the Great Tribulation is over. They do not hear. They do not have ears to hear and they do not recognize the voice of Christ because it is spiritually discerned and recognized only by the people of God.
Let us go to Revelation, chapter 1. We know the Bible tells us the sheep hear His voice and know His voice. What is the voice? It says in Revelation 1:10-11:
I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega…
Who is the Alpha and Omega? It is the Lord Jesus Christ. The Apostle John was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day and he heard a great voice as a trumpet. So, he saw Jesus Christ in a vision. And, yet, this is an important verse because it identifies that great voice with what? A trumpet. A “trumpet” and the “voice” of Christ are synonymous. We can understand that when the Bible speaks of a trumpet (which it does in many places), it is really referring to the voice of Christ and the voice of Christ is the Word of God, the Bible. For instance, let us go to 1Corinthians 14:7-8:
And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
The word “sound” is “fo-nay.” It is the same word as “voice,” like where it says, “My sheep hear my voice.” So, we could say, “If the voice gives an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself for the battle?” This is where the hearing about 1994 and the hearing about May 21, 2011 comes in to play. We have been in Judgment Day for much longer than we thought. Yes, it is a prolonged judgment. We are thinking it could be from May 21, 2011 to possibly the year 2033. That would be 22 actual years or 23 inclusive years. That is a prolonged judgment, but prolonged judgments are not “new.” How long did the judgment on the churches last? It lasted from May 21, 1988 through May 21, 2011. Why did no one say you cannot have a prolonged judgment on the church? Why was the judgment on the church not finished in a day? God carried it out over a long period of time and then completed it after 23 full years or 8,400 exact days. That is a prolonged judgment in which the corporate church was drinking of the cup of the wrath of God in a spiritual way.
That brings up something else. It is amazing that any true believers would sort of step back when they hear the language of a spiritual judgment. It is really amazing because of what does the Bible tell us about God. God is a Spirit. The Word of God, the Bible, is spiritual. We compare spiritual with spiritual. What is the salvation of the soul? It is spiritual. Can you see who is saved or who is not saved? I cannot. Can you see who is not saved? What is deadness of the soul? It is spiritual. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Spiritual means invisible. All through the Bible, there is spiritual judgment: spiritual judgment on Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden; spiritual judgment on Christ in the garden of Gethsemane; and spiritual judgment on the corporate church. God is Spirit and He works things, spiritual with spiritual. And we should expect a spiritual judgment in the judgment process, especially when He says in Jeremiah, chapter 25 that He is first going to give the cup of wrath to the city called by His name. We knew full well that it was all spiritual. Yes, there may have been some physical outworking, but it was all a spiritual drinking of that cup over a prolonged period of time. Then God said to take the same cup and give it to the nations to drink. Why would we think that the nature of that cup of wrath would suddenly turn physical, literal and visible, so we could see it all work out? Of course, God is in control of what His people understand or fail to understand, but all along we should have been looking for a spiritual judgment, because that would have been in keeping with the major judgments found in the Bible.
But, again, it says in 1Corinthians 14:8:
For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
Back in 1992, there was a book published called “1994?” (with a question mark). That was not a “certain sound.” Believe me, by God’s grace of allowed me to live over this period of time and having been involved with some of these things, I can look back and see the difference in the response of people to September 1994 and the response of people in May 2011. Was the message of May 21, 2011 a certain sound? Yes. We said, “The Bible guarantees it.” There was no “question mark” and there was no “maybe” or “strong likelihood.” It was a definite thing. And, again, God did fulfill that aspect of it because He brought to pass a spiritual judgment. A spiritual judgment is not a lesser judgment or a minor judgment. It was a very real judgment. Again, we have the example of God’s judgment on the churches and congregations. Now God has brought judgment on the entire world and He told the world He was going to do it. Billboards went up. The news casts reported it. The message went all over the earth that May 21, 2011 would be Judgment Day.
And nobody said that day would be the end of the world. We had understood, to a certain degree, the idea of a prolonged judgment because we were thinking it would be a literal five months. So, we were not thinking it would be over in a single day, but, again, we have been corrected concerning a physical earthquake and the duration, and so forth. But as far as God is concerned, He opened up the scriptures to reveal a great many things, but not everything. Some things we had to learn afterwards. Some things have been learned since that date.
But God opened up the scriptures before May 21, 2011 to reveal sufficient information so there would be a clear sounding of the trumpet. Since Revelation 1, verses 10 and 11 say that Christ’s voice is like a trumpet, then what was the clear trumpet sound? It was coming forth from the Bible. There was the 7,000-year timeline from Noah’s flood (“Yet seven days…”) that landed exactly on May 21, 2011. And May 21, 2011 also had the underlying Hebrew calendar date of the seventeenth day of the second month. You cannot orchestrate those things. You cannot manipulate Biblical calendars. You would have to be a super-genius, but then everyone would have to turn their heads away because it would be obvious you were doing something to make it fit the way it did. But God locked in that date so His people would proclaim the certainty of Judgment Day occurring at that time. Why? It was because that was the day He ended His salvation program, so people were limited in the time when they could still beseech the Lord and cry out to Him for mercy up until that point. So, it was very important that this information get out into all the world, so people would hear and they could approach unto God to see if they were one of His elect.
But the trumpet is interesting because we are talking again about a prolonged period of time and we could go back even further to 1994. We had been hearing from the Bible that Christ was coming. Judgment Day was coming. The end of the world was coming. If we were living in the world of the 1930s or the 1850s and we looked around, we would find that the churches were reasonably faithful and not crazy like they are today as they go after all kinds of false doctrines. If we looked around and we did not see sin multiplying on the earth to the degree it has multiplied, then we might say, “We are getting all this information from the Bible and this timeline information that keeps insisting we are right there, progressing from this period to that period, but when we walk down the street people are still polite to one another.”
Well, I know everybody here knows what is happening today. Even people out there in the world have to know this is highly unusual and unlike anything in history as the world is operating like it is today. We are having discussions about “gender” and now people do not know what gender to put on the birth certificate or what bathroom to use. There is so much confusion. And that is what sin does. It causes such mass confusion that people get caught up in it and they cannot get out of it, because God’s Spirit has withdrawn from restraining sin in the hearts of men in the world and in the churches, so we are seeing man as he naturally is and this is the nature of unsaved man. This is the desperately wicked and deceitful heart that God held back to some extent down through history until the time of the end. God lifted His hand of restraint at the time of the end to coincide with the opening of the scriptures to reveal the timeline of history so we could know that we were at the time of the end that is spoken of in the Bible. So, it is very clear and that is what gives this “trumpet sound” added authority and weight as we hear it, because we know it is soon and it is at hand because of everything else the Bible is saying.
Let us go to Matthew 24, where verse 29 speaks of the time immediately after the tribulation and verse 30 speaks of Christ coming in the clouds with power and great glory. Then it says in Matthew 24:31:
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
It is a “great sound of a trumpet” or the great voice of the trumpet, which is the Word of Christ, the Word of God. That is what gathers the elect and brings them all together.
Also, it says in 1Thessalonians 4:16:
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Christ will come with the “trump of God.” When did Christ first come in judgment? He came to judge the churches and congregations of the world. Mr. Camping wrote that in one of His books. Christ came as judge of the churches in an invisible way. Christ came as a thief in the night. The Book of Revelation mentions Christ coming as a thief upon the churches in chapter 2 or 3, which instructs us on what to look for when Christ comes as a thief. He came as such an expert thief that He entered in to the churches, took away all their blessings and departed. Then He set up Satan there. And they did not know it and they still do not know it. That is when you know you have been robbed by an expert thief, when He comes and takes everything of value you possess and you do not even notice. He came as a thief in the night upon the churches and congregations and then He did the same thing on May 21, 2011 when He came as a thief in the night upon the world and stole their greatest valuable, the possibility of salvation. He took away that blessing from all mankind.
The voice of Christ had been sounding with this trumpet blast and warning about Judgment Day for many years. It says in Exodus 19:11-13:
And be ready against the third day: for the third day JEHOVAH will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai. And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death: There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.
It says, “when the trumpet soundeth long.” Have you ever seen a trumpet player put the trumpet to his mouth and give a long blast that may last 15 or 20 seconds? That would be a prolonged trumpet blast. It is the same thing with the trumpet of the Lord announcing the end of the world and judgment on the churches and Judgment Day. It was a prolonged trumpet blast that sounded over the course of days, months and years and, yet, God calls it Judgment Day. Yes, it is a prolonged period of time, but He calls it a single day, just as He called the Israelites wilderness sojourn a “day of temptation” in the wilderness, but it lasted for 40 years.
We are going to find that Judgment Day lasts 40 years. It has been under way for many years and there is still a good deal of time to go, but there is a prolonged blast of the trumpet. Then it says in Exodus 19:17-20:
And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount. And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because JEHOVAH descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice. And JEHOVAH came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.
We can compare this to Hebrews, chapter 12. Let us go there because I cannot remember it exactly. It says in Hebrews 12:18-19:
For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:
Then it says in Hebrews 12:22:
But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
We are come unto mount Sion, the heavenly city or heavenly Jerusalem and that is what Exodus 19 has in view when it speaks of coming up to the mount. When you come up to the mount, there is first the voice of the trumpet that sounds long: “when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.” They shall come up to heavenly Jerusalem or the kingdom of God.
Getting back to the subject of 1994, a Jubilee Year, let us turn to Leviticus 25:8-10:
And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years. Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
So, the jubile has a trumpet featured. The trumpet would sound to announce the Jubilee Year and it would be a time when the captives would be set free. The captives could go free from their servitude and return to their own families. It pointed to God’s salvation program and God’s salvation program in the year 1994 was a Jubilee year. And not only was it a Jubilee Year, but it was the 40th Jubilee Year since the birth of Christ in 7BC. God began to evangelize the earth a second time. He began to send forth the Gospel in a great way to save the great multitude out of the “little season” of the Great Tribulation. This was when the trumpet of the jubile sounded, the voice of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Let us go back to Exodus 19:13:
There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.
The Hebrew word for “jubile” is the word “yo-bale” and it is translated as “jubile” 21 times and it is translated as “ram’s horn” five times, all in the same chapter in Joshua, chapter 6, which we will look at later. One time it is translated as “trumpet” and that is in this verse in Exodus 19, verse 13. It should read, “When the Jubilee soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.” The jubile of the Lord Jesus Christ came as Christ entered into the world, born of a virgin, in early October of 7BC in a Jubilee Year. He was born around the Day of Atonement, which was mentioned in Leviticus for the day of the sounding of the trumpet. He came into the world to be the essence of the jubile and to set His people free or to release the captives, which were all the elect chosen before the foundation of the world and whose sins He had paid for before the foundation of the world.
He was the essence of the jubile right from His birth and all the way through His going to the cross. In 33AD Christ went to the cross and resurrected, showing Himself for forty days. Ten days after that was the Day of Pentecost and the first outpouring of the Holy Spirit, so that Jubilee stretched from 7BC t0 33AD. It was 40 calendar years or 39 actual years and that is the pattern that we have in this time period of the time of the end. From 1994 to 2033 is the identical length of time as it was from 7BC to 33AD. You can add that up by adding 7 and 33, which totals 40, and then you minus “1” because there is no year “zero,” which gives you 39 years. From 1994 to 2033, you subtract 1994 from 2033 and you get 39 years. But if you count the years starting with 1994 as “year one,” and so forth, you get a total of 40 years, because you are counting inclusively.
That is just amazing, is it not? It is incredible to me that we are living at a point in history that mirrors or parallels the situation from the first coming of Christ. They were both Jubilee Years, spaced by 2,000 years. The year 7BC and 1994 BC were Jubilee Years, spaced by 2,000 years. The years 33AD and 2033AD are spaced by 2,000 years. It is the identical pattern, except it is spaced by 2,000 years.
The Bible also talks about two main numbers when it talks about the coming of Christ: the number “11” and the number “13,” or 11,000 years and 13,000 years. What is the difference between “11,000” and “13,000”? It is 2,000 years and that is also the difference between these two Jubilee periods: 7BC and 1994; and 33AD and 2033AD. Here, God is speaking of a prolonged sounding of the jubile. Yes, it was translated as “trumpet” and the King James translators did that, but God permitted them to do that, which also means the trumpet identifies with the jubile. The “trumpet” is the “voice of Christ.”
When I look back and I remember hearing on the radio in 1992 about September 1994, the possible end of the world, it struck me. And it struck many others, too. I am not the only one that continued and endured to this point – there were others. For some, it may not have been the time when God was dealing with you, but there was a trumpet sound of a voice. And why does that date keep coming up? Why do so many time paths go to 1994, perhaps, 27 or more? There are very strong time paths that go to 1994, just as there are more than a couple dozen that go to 2033.
So, we have all this information and then in the Book of Jonah, Jonah’s name means “dove” and in the New Testament the Holy Spirit is likened to a dove. The “dove” (Jonah) was commanded by God to go to Nineveh the first time and we know about the interesting history on the ship when Jonah (apparently) disobeyed and was cast into the sea, which points to Christ’s first demonstration of His atonement when He first entered into the world. After Jonah came out of the great fish, God commanded Him a second time: “Go to Nineveh.” The Holy Spirit (dove) was sent the second time and in this picture, we find that God told him exactly what to say. What did Jonah preach? He preached the message, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be destroyed.” We can pinpoint the second outpouring of that Holy Spirit to 1994. In the Book of Jonah, God is actually giving us a record of the two outpourings of the Holy Spirit or the two comings of Christ. And in Jonah, chapter 3 He is giving us a timeline.
Yes, I am sure I have disappointed someone listening to this message who hoped that EBible Fellowship had “learned a lesson” and stopped giving dates and was no longer in that “business.” But is it unbiblical to give a date? Who said, “Yet forty days,”? Is that not a timeline? And did God not give Abraham a timeline of 400 years that they would be in Egypt and then they would come out?
I did a little investigation and wrote about it in my “Notes” on Facebook. I tried to find all the places that God gives dates and timelines. What are the “seventy weeks” of Daniel 9, but a timeline to the first coming of Christ? If God does it, what is wrong with it? Is someone holier than God? If God does it, then what is wrong with His people doing it? God is not “above the law.” There is a verse that says, in Psalm 138:2:
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
The “name” of God means everything that He is, His characteristics and attributes. His Word or His Law is above the Being of God and all that He is, which means that He is in submission to it. There is not one Law for God and another Law for us. If God presents time paths and gives dates, then it is certainly acceptable for His people, as long as we are careful to follow the Biblical methodology the Bible lays out. There is nothing wrong with that. You know, some people want to back away from dates and all this information because they are not really the people of God. In Luke 21, which is a chapter dealing with the Great Tribulation and Judgment Day, it says in Luke 21:25-26:
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth…
It almost makes it seem like people are trembling: “Oh, the end of the world is coming! Christ is coming!? Do you see anyone trembling out there? Do you think they will be trembling in the future? No – no one is trembling. No one is fearing on the earth. This is an incorrect translation. In the Greek, it says, “Men’s hearts waxing cold from fear, and from looking after those things which are coming on the earth.” And that is what we see. When does it take place? It takes place when there are signs in the sun, moon and stars, which happens immediately after the Tribulation. The sun was darkened, the moon did not give its light and the stars fell, because the last trumpet blast to warn the world was broadcast to all the earth. They heard it and in the time prior to May 21, 2011, there were some people that were uncomfortable. I do not know how much they feared, but they were definitely disturbed. But when it apparently did not happen and they did not see anything with their physical eyes, they concluded there was nothing that happened. Everyone in the world knows that, do they not? However, God is Spirit and you do not see God with your physical eyes, do you? Is God there? Following the world’s logic, the response is, “I do not see God, so there is no God.” Many people operate under that principal. You see, spiritual things are not very powerful to people that are dead in spirit. They have little interest. They have no ability to understand or discern things in the spiritual realm, so if it is not in the physical realm and tangible and able to be perceived by their physical senses, it does not exist.
So, that was the last great time and people were all looking for a physical, literal earthquake to shake the earth in judgment. Yes – deep down, people know they are sinners and that there is a God and they are in trouble with him. They had their “antennas” up at that time, but then it passed. “Now let us all relax and take it easy and enjoy life.” Now there is no more fear. There is a going away and a growing coldness from mankind. We should not expect to see that again, and I do not. That is not going to happen again, when people were so concerned that they were stopping us on the street, wanting to know more. We are not going to see that again.
But the Lord may do something that we cannot even guess at, at this point, as far as feeding the sheep. He has commanded us to feed the sheep and they are out there in the world and we do not know who they are, so that necessarily means that we need to go, again, and share this information with all nations so the elect of God can hear and be spiritually fed. I think the Lord will do that, but I do not know how He is going to do it. We mentioned a possible trip to Hong Kong, possibly in April or May of 2018. We have other news to share, too, concerning outreach that the Lord has opened to us. It is small right now, but this is a time (and it seems we do have time until 2033) when we can start small and expand, as God allows.
